Alain Silberstein, Historic French Watches

Mr. Alain Silbersteins history was a rather unusual one. He’s an interior architectural designer by profession that turned watch maker in Besançon in the late 1980s when he created his own watch making business. Luck played a role in combining his passion for watches with his architectural background. The birth of Alain Silberstein watches was near. During a time when the disappearance of automatic French watch making appeared nearly unstoppable, he associated himself with the nearly inaccessible club of Swiss watch makers who were behind the born again automatic watch. In the Alain Silberstein watch shop on the banks of the Doubs river, Alain Silberstein watches are designed and manufactured each year with the assistance of only 20 workers, including six watchmakers, they boast nearly 3, 000 Alain Silberstein watches in various collections. They’re all high end watches like the Alain Silberstein tourbillon watch, the Alain Silberstein sports chronograph watch, and the Alain Silberstein perpetual calendar. There are also jewelry watches that have diamonds, and art watches with cloisonné dials have yet again become the height of French watchmaking. Alain Silberstein watches are made for everyday use and are resolutely retropolitan works of art. The internal workings are visible through a small window on the watch face, and through the transparent case back. This is so the inherent artistic nature of the watch can be easily admired.
